Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Brownish Black
Nicole Miller Eyeliner in Charcoal

I woke up and decided I was going to do a smokey eye with Yellows and Reds and as I was priming my eyes I thought a checkered pattern on the eyelid would be the sickness...So I tested out my theory and it was correct! I think this is a super cool look, maybe not for day, but definitely for nighttime like going out to a club or something along those lines. If you want to rock this all day and night then more power to you! :Þ This is super simple and took about 5 minutes to do. Here's how you get the look: ☼
- Always start with a clean, fresh face.
- I put Hard Candy ♥ Sheer Envy primer all over the eyelid
- Next, take a small make-up brush and in the inner corner of your eyelid dab a line of #1 as thin or thick as you would like stopping right at the crease. DO NOT go above the crease!
- Then take #2 and dab a line right next to #1 that you just finished applying
- Repeat Step 3 and 4 until you reach the outer corner of your eyelid
- After you have finished alternating between #1 and #2, take #2 and dab it above the #1 at the inner corner of your eyelid. Staying above the crease going towards (but not up to) the brow line.
- Right next to #2 apply #1 above the crease making sure that the colors are opposite each other..
- (8) Once finished alternating colors above the crease, Move to the lower eyelid and taking an angled make-up brush take #1 and, starting from the outer corner of your eyelid, dab against the lash line.
- (9) Right after you applied #1 to the lower lash line follow with #2 and repeat this until you get to the inside corner of the lower eyelid
- (10) Once finished apply your preferred mascara and eyeliner. I only used eyeliner on the inside rim of the lower lid. The mascara I used was Maybelline Great Lash in Brownish Black and the eyeliner was Nicole Miller in Charcoal.
There you have it! The checkered eye! You can change the colors or the pattern however you like and post the instructions if you decide to! I am curious to see what people come up with. As for applying your mascara AFTER you applied your eye shadow... That is a personal preference because I HATE eye shadow on my eye lashes, I know that typically you apply mascara before shadow so you don't mess up the eye shadow but that's not for me... But please continue doing whatever is most comfortable for you.
